Find Your Truth. Find Your Centre.

Hi

My name is Lexi Newman. What follows is a little bit about me, my education and training background, my interests, and how I work. If you’re interested in working with me, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

How I Work

I’m a Doctor of Chinese medicine. I am a registered acupuncturist and Chinese medicine herbalist with a Bachelor of Health Science (Chinese Medicine) and a Holistic Kinesiologist and Transpersonal Counsellor. I’m also a Deathwalker and Spinal Energetics Practitioner.

I work with you in a dynamic and collaborative way, offering a very focused and effective style of therapy. This allows us to get straight to the heart of the matter and begin the process of genuine change in body, mind and spirit. My approach is grounded in deep listening and genuine engagement with you and your experience. I meet new clients for an initial 90 minute session in which I hear about you and your life and get a sense for what you want from therapy. During this session you will also experience how I work. At the conclusion of that first session we will identify the key themes informing our work together and map out a plan going forward.

Sessions with me involve an in depth look at the issue at hand, coping mechanisms, triggers and patterns, as well as general lifestyle and diet.  Treatment plans are discussed and involve a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicines, as well as counselling, kinesiology, nutrition and lifestyle changes.

I was first introduced to the path of Chinese medicine whilst travelling through Asia in my early twenties, where I experienced the incredible effects and mystery of its ancient healing wisdom. I have a keen interest in psycho-emotional disorders such as anxiety and depression, palliative care, as well as women’s health and general wellbeing.

I am passionate about the work I do and inspired by the effects it has on the clients I am fortunate to treat, empowering them to become unstuck and live a more wholehearted and fulfilling life. I look forward to working with you.

Education and Experience:

I completed my Bachelor of Health Science degree Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine) at Southern School of Natural Medicine in Melbourne. I am registered with APHRA (CMR0002259985) and a member of AACMA (3722). I am covered by all major health funds and clients are eligible for private insurance rebates on consultations.

In addition to Chinese Medicine I am also a qualified Holistic Kinesiologist and Transpersonal Counsellor and have been working in this field for the past 20 years. I’m also a Deathwalker and Spinal Energetics Practitioner.

My work is dedicated to finding purpose to self, through understanding ones triggers and patterns and allowing deep inner shifts to occur through coming back to one’s own truth. I combine sessions to incorporate all three modalities to obtain the best possible outcome for my client.

Volunteer Experience:

I have been a volunteer acupuncturist at Windana, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre in St Kilda, as well as volunteering for Melbourne City Palliative Care, Fitzroy assisting and supporting people in coming to terms with their death and working for Mother Theresa in Calcutta, India with the sick and dying. Furthermore, I worked for the DHS for seven years with high dependency, mentally challenging men in a lock in unit.
